Highly recommended travel tips
As beautiful as Uttarakhand is, it doesn’t have the most comfortable terrain to navigate. Hence, pilgrims have to carefully read the instructions in the travel guide provided and prepare accordingly. Before a month from the start of your trip, practicing breathing exercises is advisable. They’ll improve your lung function and help you breathe better at high altitudes. If possible, get yourself medically examined to determine whether you’re fit for the trip.
For the trip, carry light snacks, preferably rich in protein. Avoid oily snacks and meals as much as possible. Carry packaged drinking water or buy them at the spots on the route. Water from natural sources may be contaminated and unfit for drinking. Also, take all necessary medicines for cold, fever, headache, ointments, and band-aids in an emergency first-aid kit.
After that, you can include the travel accessories like mosquito nets, flashlights, sunscreen, and walking sticks. Having the proper attire is very important as this terrain is rugged. So, wear trekking shoes and carry a raincoat. To combat the cold weather, wearing woolen and thermal wear will help.
During the trip, carry an identification slip with your name, address, and emergency contact info on it to be on the safe side. Always stay with your group, and do as your travel guide directs.. Please avoid going on an unknown path and taking shortcuts.
